Latest research shows PC games continue to dominate
As an avid PC gamer, I have been hearing these past few years how consoles are finally at the same level or mobile platforms are the new next thing. Whilst consoles have certainly improved and the power some mobile phones have to run 3D games is an incredible innovation, a solid PC rig can always run circles around its competitors.
Enter the latest research by Superdata, which shows PC games accounting for more than half the $61 billion in sales in 2015 following with mobile ($25.1 billion) and consoles ($3.9 billion).
Granted, this was a pretty good year for games. Yet as the report says, “PC gamers have made significant progress transitioning to purchasing games digitally.”
There are certainly strengths and weakness to each platform, yet when it comes to value for money and the variety of games (generally) made available, the PC continues to be a solid platform for digital entertainment.
